Let them eat gelato.

Millie’s was a passion project for renowned chef, Susan Sbicca. For health reasons, she transformed her diet from the Standard American Diet to a mostly raw, vegan diet. Unfortunately (or fortunately), her finely-tuned taste buds weren’t satisfied with the frozen desserts available to her, so she developed her own raw vegan gelato: Millie’s.

Our main goals when creating this brand were twofold: to encourage any customer to experience how great non-dairy gelato tastes while giving those with dietary restrictions a rich, creamy dessert that they can enjoy with everyone.

We chose vibrant colors to imply the celebratory and social environment and gelato encourages. We created soft, flowing type to express the sweet and creamy texture of the product and the leaves nod to health.

Susan needed a business card to reflect the decadent quality of the product and instantly let people know that while it’s a healthy product that most everyone can enjoy, it carries a higher pricetag than the average pint. By using the letterpress process for her cards, the creamy deliciousness almost leaps off the ink!

With a fairly limited budget, we decided to put most of her investment in items which would remain the same no matter how big Millie’s might become (positioning, logo, colors, fonts, patterns, textures), but she also needed a packaging solution.

By using weather-resistant Avery labels, we created a pdf form, so she could fill in the flavors & print as necessary. The format & vibrant colors complement the colorful ingredients and enhance a sense of creaminess. The perfect blend of good-for-you and indulgence all rolled into one!

The impactful and strategically appropriate brand deliverables have helped her business grow to from farmer’s markets to independent markets in Southern California, as well as some regional Whole Foods Markets.
